Senior Life Solutions Selected as STAR Training Site

Phillips County Health Systems’ (PCHS) Senior Life Solution program was selected as one of only a few STAR (Skilled Training Achieving Results) training sites in the nation by Psychiatric Medical Care (PMC), which manages almost 100 Senior Life Solutions programs nationally. The training sites provide interactive training for new program staff with the continued development of the Senior Life Solutions program.

STAR training sites are chosen as a result of their time of service with the company, their ability to uphold PMC’s 3Cs of care, compliance, and community, and their ability to exemplify the company’s culture of accountability and kindness not only in training new staff but in their daily work serving their communities.

“It’s wonderful for this program that is changing lives in our community to be recognized,” said Tara Overmiller, the Chief Strategy Officer for PCHS.

"With a team of healthcare professionals, the program teaches seniors healthy coping skills, provides them with the tools needed to manage all aspects of aging as well as connects them with community resources. Oftentimes, the patients seen by Senior Life Solutions are community members who have recently lost a spouse or loved one, are acting as a caregiver for their spouse, or are experiencing things such as loneliness, chronic health issues, or any major life change," said Overmiller.

PCHS’ Senior Life Solutions is an intensive outpatient group counseling program designed to meet the unique needs of older adults over the age of 65 who are struggling with depression and anxiety often related to aging. Following an individual assessment, participants meet three times per week in a supportive, encouraging group setting.

PCHS’s Senior Life Solutions team consists of Program Director, Tracy Sanson, RN; Therapist, Cassie Seemann, LMSW; Office Patient Coordinator, Laura Burton; Program Administrator, Tara Overmiller; and Regional Director, Rhonda McGraw, BSN, RN.

If you or any seniors you know are struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other issues related to aging, contact Senior Life Solutions at 785-540-4991. Anyone can refer an individual to the program.
