Cassie Taylor

Phillips County Health Systems (PCHS) is delighted to announce the newest addition to our Rural Health Medical Clinic team, Melinda VanKooten, FNP-BC. Melinda is now available to see acute care patients at the clinic, bringing her extensive nursing experience and deep community knowledge to our healthcare services.

"We are thrilled to welcome Melinda, one of Phillips County’s own, to our Medical Clinic," expressed Tara Overmiller, CEO of PCHS. "Her deep roots and extended family's active involvement in our community bring immense value to the care we provide. Having medical care from someone who truly knows our community is invaluable. Melinda will also play a key role in our highly anticipated morning express, walk-in clinic, which we are excited to launch later this summer."

Melinda VanKooten is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is also a certified medical examiner on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s national registry of certified medical examiners. Most recently, in 2022, she earned her Master of Nursing Practice (MSN) as a family nurse practitioner from Simmons University in Boston, MA.

A native of Phillipsburg, KS, Melinda is grateful to return and provide care for her hometown community. With over 27 years of Registered Nursing experience across various hospital departments and administrative roles, she brings a wealth of expertise to PCHS. Melinda is also an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Melinda has two adult sons, Christian and Noah. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, cooking, reading, crocheting, and walking her dogs.

Transparency in Coverage Rule

Phillips County Health Systems complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws. Phillips County Health Systems does not discriminate, exclude, or treat individuals differently on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

The Department of Health and Human Services’, Transparency in Coverage Rule, requires health plans to create a member-facing price comparison tool and post publicly available machine-readable files. These files must be updated monthly and include in-network negotiated payment rates and historical out-of-network charges for covered items and services, including prescription drugs.  The purpose of this Rule is to help you know the cost of your healthcare before receiving the care.

No one will be denied access to service due to the inability to pay. All applications for sliding fee schedules and discounts will be accepted. Eligibility is determined by family size and income.
